Neurovascular Education and Training in Stroke Management and Acute Reperfusion Therapy

Stroke is the leading cause of permanent disability in adults and the third leading cause of death in the U.S. Over 700,000 Americans are effected each year, and another 300,000 are diagnosed with transient ischemic attack (TIA), a high-risk stroke precursor. In the face of inadequate preventive services, stroke contributes significantly to healthcare costs, which will likely increase unless practitioners are prepared to treat and preserve neurologic function in emergency situations.

NET SMART is the first and only academic stroke fellowship program offering a solution to this burgeoning problem. Since 2007, NET SMART has offered an on-line educational system that supports the learning needs of advanced practice nurses,nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, clinical staff, and physicians, with the aim or improving stroke victim access to acute treatment. NET SMART offers an unique educational experience like no other.
